One ribbon for every woman

Nexans Sweden has chosen to support the Pink Ribbon campaign by buying 110 pink ribbons - the same amount as the number of female employees working at Nexans Sweden.

In October each year the Swedish Cancer Society organizes the Pink Ribbon campaign to support cancer research and raise awareness. During one month the whole country is "painted" pink with the support from companies, associations and private persons who want to join the fight against breast cancer.

Did you know...
Over 60 000 persons each year in Sweden are diagnosed with cancer. Among these 8000 women with breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among Swedish women.

The Pink Ribbon has its origin in USA, where the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 1991 started to distribute pink ribbons to all participants in their ”Race for the cure” in New York. The symbol got a huge national break through the same year with the help of Evelyn Lauder from the cosmetics company Estée Lauder, who started sharing the ribbon. The Pink Ribbon is today an international symbol for the fight against breast cancer, that every month in October - the international breast cancer awarness month - gathers and engage people all over the world.
